Opus X captures the shape of time through a synchronous rotation of circular motions. In place of a traditional fixed dial and watch hands, time is displayed as a system of rotating indicators – for hours, minutes, and seconds – mounted on a revolving frame. As the frame completes a full 24-hour rotation, the dials of each indicator turn in the opposite direction to maintain a constant orientation in any position. Each indicator is set at a slight incline, allowing the dials to perfectly follow the curvature of the case, while further accentuating the revolving effect. The new and original manually-wound mechanical movement was developed on a planetary gear train consisting of a sun gear, a planet gear and a frame. In addition to time indications, the timepiece also displays a second 24-hour time zone around the edge of the platform and a linear power reserve on the back of the case.
